William Runyan has over thirty years of industry experience, and has been in private practice since 1981. He has provided forensic engineering studies and loss investigation & analysis to the insurance industry for over twenty years. He has been retained as an expert witness on subjects regarding fire & earthquake damage, structural damage & repair-ability.
He has received training from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) in post-disaster Safety Assessment Program (SAP). This included post-earthquake, windstorm and flood evaluation of building through ATC 20-1 & 45 programs.
He has received training from the Applied Technology Council (ATC) on FEMA P-58, Seismic Performance Assessment of Buildings.
William Runyan has been trained as a structural specialist in the FEMA-USACE program for building assessment of damaged buildings. He is a current member of the FEMA CA TF-6 USAR team operating out of the City of Riverside Fire Department. (California Task Force #6 of FEMA - US Army Corps of Engineers – Urban Search & Rescue Team).
William Runyan is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a B.S. from the Architectural Engineering Program in 1977. He holds professional engineering registration in the State of California (1980: civil #C032138) and Nevada (2006: Civil # 183659) He is a Founding Member of the National Society of Architectural Engineers, a Professional Member of the International Code Council (ICC) a Charter Member of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the ASCE, and a past member of the American Institute of Steel Construction, the American Concrete Institute, and SEAOSC (Structural Engineer Association of Southern California). He served on the Existing Building Code (EBC) development committee. He is a current member of the American Society of Civil Engineer (ASCE).
